    67 carpeted kick panel question

My original kick panels have carpet glued to a black cardboard material with grommets pressed in at the screw hole locations.
Does anyone know what the black cardboard material is and where to get it and where to get the grommets.
Does anyone know of a supplier that accurately reproduces the carpeted kick panels with the correct cardboard and grommets? The ones I received from Al Knoch are not.

    Neal,

I want to install grommets on my repro kick panels also and plan to try Michel's stores or Jo Ann fabric for the grommets. My early 67 convertible has the screws where four are the same and two are different but grommets at all locations as you observe.

The color was not close on the pair I bought from knoch either. Can you use your originals? Mike

The carpet color on mine is dark saddle and the AL Knoch color is close. I am going to send the panels back th Al to install the grommets. I don't think I will find the correct black cardboard however.

Try a good arts supply store for the "Black Poster" or "Tag" board. There are many different sizes, textures and shades of black to choose from.
          Good Luck,

I spoke with Al Knoch at the Regional in Tucson about the grommets. They will install them on your kick panels for $10. I was lucky to be able to leave mine with them and they will be returned with a shipment other parts I bought.
