    1962 ignition switch wiring

On the back of the ignition switch , there is a group of three wires that plug into the three lugs in the center of the ignition switch. There are two other pink wires, one is 14 gage and the other is 18 gage. The wiring dia shows the 14 gage going to the lug marked acc an the smaller 18 gage wire going to the lug marked ign. When I removed them they were opposite. Is the wiring diagram wrong or was my car wired incorectly? What woud be the out come if this is wired incorrect ?

The pink wires run the accessories. When you are cranking the engine, the heater motor and radio shouldn't run; they are powered by the 14 gage pink wire. The directionals should work when you are cranking the engine; they are powered by the 18 gage wire. Your car's accessories will work the other way when you're cranking the engine. In "run" all accessories will work no matter which way you hook up the pnk wires.

Mine was connected wrong for over a couple of years years when one day I noticed the turn signal would work with the switch in the lock position.
