1965 hardtop

I was wondering if there is anyway to tell if my 1965 corvette came originally with a hardtop? Was there any stamping on the serial plate or any thing to look for on the car that would indicate it was original..

It may be impossible to determine if it did. But, if not too much has been changed there may be some tell tale signs. Circumstantial as they say.

Take a look at the rear deck, does it have the holes to mount the hardtop? If yes, then there was one there unless the deck was changed. Does it have the special mounting screws on each side to mount the hardtop, Yes or No. If yes, then a hardtop is probable.

If the car was restored much might be lost.

Terry -- if your car was a '66 or '67, then yes, there is a trim suffix code on the trim tag (for non-black interiors) which varied depending on other body options in conjunction with the hardtop.
