The computer has made doing business easier for them. No flipping thru pages, checking the inventory card to see if the part is in stock, going to the price book and hand writing an invoice. Then going thru the invoices, adjusting the inventory on the card, flipping thru the inventory cards and hand writing a parts order. That is all done with a few key strokes on the computer. That is all well and fine until some poor smuck like me comes blundering thru the front door and wanting parts for a '72 Corvette, or even worse, my '49 IHC pickup. I love the deer in the headlight look

Geez, it's amazing how many guys search for and are willing to pay a premium for current "Delco" parts, especially from a GM dealer, when they can buy the exact same part from the same plant in another "name brand" box for a lot less

Vinnie has an article on ignition points co-authored by me and Tim Schuetz for over a year, but I guess we are in the queue behind higher priority articles.

I've sent the pdf of the article to the originator of the thread the other day...and it will be in the summer issue of The Restorer...here's an advance look for those members that participate here...it hasn't been placed in the layout of the magazine yet...

Very good article. I am probably not the only one who did not know that there were so many different point sets available.
