I stsrted out with a 160 degree thermostat because the engine is bored at 40 over and it runs steady at that temp. Should I run the 180 as the manual indicates. Are there reprocushions running 160 as opposed to a 180. Burning issues? Thanks as always

Re: 54 thermostst temp
I always recommend using the factory-specified thermostat (except for later 195 degree-equipped C2 and C3 cars). In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 54 thermostst temp
there are some that would argue......that lower temp will not get the oil hot enough to burn off impurities, water, etc.....
It is oil temp that matters IMO.
I have a 180 in mine
