I have looked thru the 1968/69 corvette manuals for the answer this question. Would someone please advise what type of attachments are used to attach the front valence...bolts. screws ? thanks

Re: 1969 front valance
I'm not sure what you're refering to as a valance panel is, but if you're speaking of the lower fiberglass that connects the two front fenders on the lower front and forms the bottom of the grille opening it's not a bolt on. It bonds on with bonding strips and uses NO bolts or screws for attachment. If you're referring to the plastic lower spoiler, it bolts on with quarter 20 hex head bolts. I believe they're washer heads.- Top

Re: 1969 front valance
Jerry,
The front spoiler is attched by hex head bolts. The two bolts in the center go in from the back with the nut on the outside. The two on the ends go from the bottm up. The hardware is a hex head bolt with a washer attached, not built in. The finish is gray phosphate. Hope this helps.

Re: 1969 front valance
1/4" diameter X 20 threads per inch. The length is probably about 3/4. I looked at one of my '69's and they have the hex head, indented on top with a captured washer (can't be removed). This car is Bloomington Gold in 1989 and NCRS Top Flight twice, and hasn't had a deduction for bolts, BUT the knowledge base on hardware is a lot deeper now than it was 20+ years ago, and I can't say for sure that I cleaned and re used the original bolts back then.- Top

Re: 1969 front valance
The screw is a trimmed (indented) hex head of 1/4-20 X 5/8" with a captured flat washer. A known original headmarking is RBW but others may have been used. The nut is a 1/4-20 with a captured flat washer. Both are phosphate-finished.
