1960 Grille Blackout - Where does it stop?

I know the fiberglass behind the outer grille "eyebrows" is blacked out. Does the paint only cover the front or does it go around the side any which would be under the bumper as it wraps around the side?

I think it was sprayed on the flat surface without any masking of the area. That means some over-spray might be visible behind the bumper.

According to the Corvette Restoration Handbook, the "air scoops" are sprayed and is covered by the moldings. Page 210 of the book. I would post a picture but not sure if that would cause problems..

        Thanks,

I just ordered the Corvette Restoration Handbook CD. I'll look in it when I get it.

          Don,

On my 1960 there is some overspray however it is covered up by the grill moldings. Also, on the side of my bumpers were painted red they were not painted black. The only black was around eyebrow's of the car and it had overspray but it was covered with the eyebrow moldings.

Al Can you see any black between the eyebrows, at the "car corners" behind the bumpers?

              Tom,

I can't see any black on the outside or the corners beyond the molding. But I have seen black speckles where the overspray goes under the molding. I noticed this when I replaced the molding about six months ago. But I do know for a fact that on the site with the bumpers were there was no black paint. And there had been no evidence of black paint, I have some original paint on my car and the scratches were down to the bare glass in some areas where the bumpers cover the body. My car has some areas where the paint had been refreshing in the 1970s but you can tell that an idiot tape over the bumpers and the molding, therefore I know the molding has never been removed from the car until I removed it.
