The GM piece was discontinued without supercession in April, 1987. As far as I know, there has never been a reproduction available.

This is the sort of part that makes restorations tough. It deteriorates over time so just about any used examples one finds will either be unusable or will be so shortly. NOS is almost impossible to find and no reproduction. How much worse could it be?

I found an N.O.S. one not TOO long ago, usually a couple years after I give up looking for one, it shows up. If you have a decent parts guy at your chevy dealer, he can search dealers that may have one laying on the shelf, a long shot, but I've found a TON of parts that way, including that one!

The GM #331847 is a screen, not the grille.

The original plastic screen on my '74 was also in bad shape. I was lucky enough to find a nice one on another car we were modifying. Matter of fact, I was able to source a lot of neat stuff from that car for mine! Used is gonna be the only source for the screen...just not enough demand for the aftermarket to make them. It would be a massive stroke of luck to find one in a dealer warehouse.

I don't know what kind of plastic these screens are made of as I've never really inspected one carefully. If it's polyethylene or polypropylene, the screens could have a relatively long life. However, if it's a polystyrene material my guess would be that all of them would be about on their "last legs".
