Looking for the "Wholesale Invoice" for my 1966. Anybody ever get one from GMAC?

Like a lot of other Corvette owners I have got zero GM paperwork on it. I understand from taking
several classes on the topic from Al Grenning that the "Wholesale Invoice" was originally sent to the place that got the Manufacturing Orgin. (The one who paid for the car first) Eg. Dealer,GMAC,
local bank and etc. Correct me if I'm wrong. Has anybody ever gotten the wholesale invoice from GMAC?
I assume that when loan was paid off the title was sent to the owner of the car; but was the wholesale
invoice sent with it or did GMAC keep them for some reason? AFAIK GMAC is defunct now but wondering
what ever happened to all their records? Thanks in advance---Larry

GMAC is defunct in name only; it is now Ally Financial, Inc. Same people, same tel. numbers, same offices. I'm pretty sure that the wholesale invoice, even if it happened to be in GMAC's hands, was never sent to the customer. Actually I doubt that the wholesale invoice was ever sent to GMAC or to any finance company. The "one who paid for the car first" would have been the dealer, even though the dealer may have been using money borrowed from GMAC or some other inventory financier. The finance company did get the Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin for the car, but it showed no prices. The C.O. was released to the dealer when the dealer sold the car and paid off the inventory financier.

If GMAC happened to finance the car for the retail buyer, it was never interested in what the car cost the dealer, only how much it was going to loan on the car based on the buyer's credit. Bear in mind, too, that some States had Certificates of Titles to vehicles in 1966, and some didn't. My State didn't require them until 1968. Is this clear as mud?

Did he say why in the world the WI was sent to the finance company? I don't see why it would be interested in it.

Only a guess, but if their giving their money for a car don't you think they would want to see what they are buying?? One of his examples was with a 67 that was
bought through Malcum Konner Chevy in NJ. Mailing Copy went to Montclair Bank & Trust--Montclair NJ. Going back to my original question: Has anybody gotten
the W/I from GMAC or for that matter a bank? Larry

I didn't buy a new Corvette but I did buy a 1963 427 Ford & a 1965 GTO conv. new & only got the title when I paid off the cars. I did get the car shippers ETC. from the dealers. I agree that the lender would only want the W/I if it was a dealer floor plan so they would know how much money to got to release the the MCO/title. I see no reason to need one for a retale loan because the bank knows how much the loan is for.

When I paid off the note on my 1970 -- to GMAC -- I got the title.

When I bought my 2008 -- Museum Delevery -- I got the MSO.

Neither car did I ever see the Wholsale Invoice.

Yes and No. I got one of these when I bought my 94 Camaro 1LE from the dealer. The older W/I's where a different format and sent
to the original one that got the MSO and had their name on it.FYI Larry

Yes the one you showed (Ralph Spears) are the examples that Al showed us.To think every C2-C3 Corvette made had one at
one time. Wish I could find mine. I wonder how Ralph got the W/I? Did GMAC mail it to him or did they mail it to the dealer and
they gave it to him? Larry
