Bowden cable connection to C1 wiper motor

Can someone post a pic, or description, of exactly how the bowden cable is connected to the C1 wiper motor actuator, please?

Most of everything seems to suggest that the cable just pushes the actuator and that when it is retracted the actuator will move back by itself, however I find that hard to believe that this would be the design.

I picture of exactly how this connection is made will assist me in correctly restoring this part of my vette.

    cheers,
    PP

No pic this morning, but cable end with small washer sits in the vertical "well" of the plastic piece. It pushes it with the end of the cable to engage it, and pulls it back with the cable-end washer to disengage it.

        It Certainly did!

I'm missing all the Washer components (that's another project to be started in the future), but I now understand how it is supposed to work.

If you any trouble restoring it (and you probably will) get a hold of Tom Maxwell at Capital Auto Restoration. Number is 301-948-9481, they are the best when it comes to wipers or washers on a C1.

Thanks for the heads up, Terry.

I'm in Wollongong, Australia (just south of Sydney), do they have an email address?

              Cheers,

Sad to tell you no, they have no website. They are members here so you could e-mail them through the community member list at the top of the page.

Tom Maxwell just did mine. He is the best. Don't know if others are cheaper or just as good. Tom is great to deal with and very knowledgeable. His email:

                      Thanks Christopher.
I'm going to need a new cable and switch actuator then see how things go. The whole unit works when manually sliding the remainder of the actuator, so I know I have the power and contacts set right ..... IO just need to be able to control it from within the car now ;-)

Re: Bowden cable connection to C1 wiper motor

Paul, I had the same problem. There's a few things to check.

                        1. The bowden cable control can be stiff. After you disconnect it from the wiper motor, see how easily it turns from inside the car. You can buy new ones. Or, you can take it out of the car; clean it up; and, lubricate it. See the archives for info on this.

                        2. The plastic slide where the cable connects can be lubed. This is usually not a problem.

                        3. The bowden cable can be out of adjustment.

                        4. My problem was the switch inside the motor. The bowden cable moves the plastic slide which moves a switch inside the motor. By now, these switches are pretty gunked up and don't move easily. Therefore, sometimes the slide can't move its full range. So, all the adjustment of the bowden still won't get you to the 3 positions - off, slow, and fast speed. This is the problem I had, which is why the motor went to Tom.
