56 Outer Reveal Molding Retainer

Is the outer reveal molding retainer on the door next to the window supposed to be plated or painted? Mine were hammered, but I can restore the originals and it looks like they were painted at one point in their life, but I can't imagine Chev painting them prior to installation. Looks like more of a cad plated kind of part. Thanks for the help.

They may have been cad plated, mine were rusty & had some black on them(arctic blue car), but would think they would have been dipped primed in black & also don't forget that I have seen some of these were hand painted too as not to show thru the glass for astatics or uniformed finish to blend in with felt seals as well............maby 56 's were cad plated then hand blackout painted to hide them.Either way they should be blacked out
