    C2 instrument cluster re-install

I reinstalled the cluster after having the odometer repaired. I had disconnected the neg battery cable before pulling the cluster. When reconnecting the cable I noticed a small spark. I checked the light(s) switch, the headlight motor switch, turn signal switch, wiper switch and AC fan (aftermarket) switch and all are off. Radio, clock and cigarette lighter are not connected. It is a very small spark which I am assuming indicates a very smal current draw. Any suggestion re: what else to check.

Steve, If I understand you right, your only concern is the small spark. Does everything work? If so I would watch it closely to see if it drains the battery. Good luck, Don H.

      Two ways I'd approach this:

      1. Disconnect the battery cable, pause for just a brief moment, and re-connect the cable, noting whether or not you saw another spark. If not, then the spark was probably due to the initial current surge needed to charge the various noise suppression capacitors and is nothing to worry about. If you see a second spark, then go to step 2.

      2. Connect an Ammeter (like the Amps function of a DVM) between the battery post and the battery cable you just disconnected, negative lead on the battery, positive lead on the cable. Measure the current. Pull one fuse at a time, noting the current after removal. When you pull a fuse that causes the current to go to zero, you've found the offending circuit.

Spark was likely caused by engagement of the clock......if doors were open, same thing, interior lights would have illuminated. Most likley nothing to be concerned with.

          Probably just the clock.

He said the clock wasn't connected.

Didnt catch that. Maybe interior lights.

Thanks everybody. It was the turn signal (that I thought I had centered to "off").
