    67 door latch mechanism

I have just removed my drivers door latch mechanism because the star wheel was spinning freely and not latching the door closed. It was a chore and one of the retainer clips broke in the process. Does anyone know where there would be a pictorial or a narrative description of the reassembly and installation? I have a rebuild kit, but not the retainer. If you have had some experience here I'd like tohear from you.

    James,
If you are refering to the retainer clips for the actuation rods, Corvette jobbers carry them.

I just got done with cleaning up both the latches on my 67. If the star wheel is spinning freely, the pawl is not engaged. On my latches, one was a bit rusty, the other was gummed up. On the pawls on the gummed up wouldn't move easily and could let the star wheel spin if they are so gummed or rusted that they can't overcome the spring force.
Check to see if the spring is intact (the red spring in the pic).
The rusty latch, I sode blasted. The gummed up one soaked overnite in my solvent tank.
Both work like new after a bit of lubing (dry graphite).

Thanks for the picture! While removing the assembly a couple springs popped off, the red one I got, I see the second one in the pic, itsthe long piece with the crescent bend in it. The assembly actually had been bent where the outside thumb button actuates the tab into the slot, when I straightend that andput the red sprinon the alignment and action work well. Is the assembly in your pic the left?

No, that happens to be the pass side.
Glad it's working out for you.
