Corvette Central Exhaust For Big Block Anyone Used One?

After 21+ years, it's time for a new exhaust. The Corvette Central complete system looks pretty nice, really like the welded muffler /rear pipe aspect of it. Was curious if anyone out there had one in use. If so are you happy with the sound of it? I really love my 454's rumble now!

I've had their complete N11 system including grounding straps and heat shields on my '66, 427/425 for a year and I'm completely satisfied including sound.

Rich...I put their complete stock system on my '73 LS4 and I am very happy with it. It bolted right up with no problems. I did not use the transmission crossover support that was included as this part replacement would require the M20 to be hoisted up and my present one was in excellent condition.

The sound is still good for me even though I had previously aftermarket "Turbo" muffers that were nice and loud on acceleration, but just a "humm" at cruising speeds.

The kit DID NOT come with the two grounding straps.

I put the exhaust system on last year (2011) and have not had the car Flight Judged since, but I don't expect any NCRS deductions on it?

That complicates my problem even more. I put a N11 from CC on my 67 427/400, and it is as quiet as the stock exhaust. I understand that my experience is more common than your experience. The fit of the exhaust is excellent.

          Rich,

You might want to look at Gardners Exhaust for comparison.

I thinking about using them when I redo my 71 LS5.

I have the n11 system in my 63 327/300 and it is very quiet. Almost too quiet. When you get down on it under hard acceleration it perks up a bit. I guess I just miss my original exhaust system with rusted out mufflers. Sounded much more like a sports car. I had to heat and bend quite a bit to get the proper fit without rubbing the frame and going cross-eyed out the rear. I even had the baffles go bad on one of the pipes creating a bad rattle, but they sent out a new pipe under warranty. No complaints.

Buddy has a 68 L79 with cc's n11 and it is also very quiet, it is a nice fit though.

I put the CC system on my 74 350 and am happy with the product. It is quiet.

I have CC aluminized on my 68 BB. The fit was perfect. No messing around at all. It's not crazy loud, but the wife knows when I'm heading out.

Rich, in 2007 I purchased a complete aluminized exhaust system from Corvette Central with their Magnaflow hideaway mufflers. In 2008 I received a 100% originality and condition deduction for the mufflers, 14 points in total because the factory originals had round cases and were painted half black. I received several compliments on the overall exhaust system from the judges, nothing negative or questioning pertaining to its sound. I don't know what the original factory sound for my '74 was like, but I like the way it sounds now with the magnaflows. Good luck with your purchase and installation. Ray

I've had the complete CC aluminized system on my 1973 LS4 for a couple of years. It's a decent price, fits great, sounds nice and judges reasonably well.

                          Anyone have a sound meter?

Should be a simple thing to measure the decibel output at idle, and again at (for example) 3,000 rpm and 5,000rpm. It would certainly be interesting to see the comparison readouts between the Corvette Central N11, Gardener N11 and GM NOS N11 exhaust systems, small block and big block.

                            Hi Rich,

Here is another company to make your comparison. I used Allen's Exhaust in Logansport, Indiana. http://www.allencorvetteexhaustsystems.com/ I bought their N-11 system for my '68 BB. If you are having the car judged, be sure to get pictures of the critical areas of the system such as bends and crush areas. I have observed there is no perfect reproduction system made today but some are better than others. You will need to do some comparison shopping. Good luck with your restoration.

A big thank you to all! And to William M.; Beautiful car! I purchased the 'Corvette Enthusiast' magazine that featured your car just for that reason, and I seldom buy magazines off the rack! Hopefully my '73 will look as nice some day! Did you use anything special for the 'blackout treatment'? Thanks again EVERYONE.
