    1960-1962 ignition lock bezel

The owner of a 1960 recently asked me a question about his ignition lock. I thought all ignition locks for 60-62 are the same, so I assume this question applies to all 3 years.

How many lock release holes (the size one can insert the end of a paper clip into) should there be in the bezel, to the side of the key slot? One hole or two? I've seen e-bay auctions for both types. The seller of the one-hole style says "correct one hole, concave bezel type". I also have a GM NOS uncoded lock cylinder with the bezel, GM # 3772085, which I believe is the correct service replacement ignition lock for 60-62 Corvette and that bezel has two holes. So, can some owners of 60-62 with original ignition locks tell me which one is correct: 1 hole or 2 hole?

    Thanks,

    Gary

One hole only for 61-62, and I believe correct for 60 also.

Gary - All the original Corvette (53-64) and Chevrolet (35-64) ignition lock cylinders had the one hole. The origianl Buick ignition lock cylinders also had one hole but it was at a different location on the same side of the key slot. The back ends of the Chev and Buick igntion lock cylinders up thru 64 were identical and in fact I think even though the original face bezels had the 1 hole the lock cylinder body was drilled at the 2 locations; so the 2 hole ignition lock cylinder became the Briggs & Stratton SERVICE replacement lock cylinder for the 1964 and older ignition switches that had the finger grip so the lock cylinders could be turned to selected positions without the key. Thanks Pete. It makes sense that the two-holer had to be a dual use, service replacement item.
