    64 Thermostat Housing Paint

What brand and color of paint do I use to paint the thermostat housing on my 64 327-365hp? Thanks for any info. Larry.....

Larry, it was painted in place minus the radiator and heater hoses. Krylon Dull Aluminum works fine. Also the bypass hose was installed and had first orange then the silver overspray on it and the intake area around the thermostat housing. The silver also was shot along the length of the intake under the valve covers to hide the exposed metal of the head where the gasket goes. Have fun, be nice and sloppy like the factory workers were!

Drove the 64 over 5000 miles to three Regionals and the San Jose National, one dust storm and 40 lbs of bugs!

      Dan,

That is one fine explanation! What other engines does your advice apply to? I have a L72 engine that I need to paint one of these days.

Joe, this would be OK for 63 thru 65 L76 and L84 cars, aluminum intake, cast iron thermostat housing. Need a 66 expert to chime in for certain.
