    Re: 1962 brake advice

I wondered as Jim said it was an error, you just cannot tell with some of the aftermark items that are available. At least we will have the information to use just in case I need to do this. That is what helps me from getting in over my head.

      Re: 1962 brake advice

Well, I was able to finish my brakes today, and finally have a rock hard brake pedal!!! I appreceiate all the feedback and follow up post from everyone that replied. I learned alot during this task.

Replaced/rebuilt/exchanged large 022 master cylinder with Lonestar Calipers, great company to work with. Did not bench bleed and really did not see a problem. I replaced all the brake lines except the one that goes under the engine, I will be pulling my motor next winter for cosmetic/detail work on the engine compartment. I will replace it then, it looked too tough to do with the engine in the car. I had all 4 brake wheel cylinders sleeved and rebuilt at white post,(they did a nice job on them) expensive though. I went back with DOT 4 just because White Post will not honor their life time warranty if DOT 5 is used. Believe me if I ever have a problem, I will send them back to them, even though they are easy to rebuild. I Bled,Bled,Bled system using Speed Bleeders which I purchased at Auto Zone, they work really well. I also used a large syringe to preservice brake lines, I believe this helped in the bleeding process. I gained access at the top brake line coming out of the M/C. I adjusted brakes and car stop sorta straight, I may need to fine tune this brake adjustment. I may ask for input if I cannot figure this out.
One lesson I learned when bleeding is always have the M/C cap installed, I no it is a pain because of the constant servicing of the small resevoir but if not installed you can get spray back.
Thanks again to all that replied. this site really helped me alot in doing this job. If anyone ever has a question on brakes do not hesitate to ask me, I will help if I can.

        For future reference:
White Post Restorations rebuilds (resleves) both master cylinders and wheel cylinders and does a great job.
        Fast turnaround and reasonable price.
Used them on my 62 years ago with DOT 5 fluid and it is still clear as when new.
