57 283 long side intake gasket config

What shaped tabs would one expect to see on the long side gaskets on an as shipped Flint engine? Would square be appropriate? If square is appropriate, should the tabs display a GM stamp? Just trying to nail down the happenstance that production was square and service was rounded. I have both so authenticity as judging issues go is the only question.-------------Regards/ Joel Miller

Joel, They should be square on the early and round starting in 60. End gaskets should have a tab with GM on them.

I just discussed this with a fellow NCRS club member. He has a unmolested '57 purchased from the original owner, it is a very early car, #25X. The tabs are round.

I have an original '61 (May car) the motor has never been apart and still has the GM tab on the end of the intake. The side gasket tab is square.
