1967 Elkart Blue / Lyndale Blue Question

Does anyone know or heard of any instances of 980 Elkhart Blue coded (tag / tank sheet) cars actually being painted by and arriving from the factory in the darker Lyndale Blue?

Noel, I know from working at GM dealerships for many years, Cars came off the trucks with generally spot repairs(rarely matched), They may have been buffed through or lot damage. , But who knows anything maybe possible, Say if there was a real paint match issue or a really bad paint job, I would bet that if John H. answers this post he could certainly answer this.

I have never seen one delivered in the wrong color. I don't doubt it could have happened. I have seen one a `70 or `71 that was painted silver on the first shooting at the factory, and then Steel Cities on the final. I guess they caught the mistake.

I guess it would be potenitally an issue of shade as they are both blue. Not, for example, a Tuxedo Black coded car arriving as Sunfire Yellow

I have a Lynndale Blue and my brother has a Elkhart Blue...they are much more different side by side than you might think. I doubt this is simply a shade issue. I'm anxious for some of the GM line experts (JH, etc) to chime in here, but I'd be surprised if this really made it all the way to a customer with the wrong color.

I've never seen a midyear go out the door with the wrong color, but there was a good reason why Final Paint Repair was set up to handle 100% of production.
