C1 (1960) heater blower motor - are the current reproductions OK?

I need a blower motor for my 1960. Paragon and Corvette Central both sell one with the one brown power lead and from the pictures they look pretty much like the Delco one on mine. Do they do OK in judging?

    Thanks,

    Don

Don, If you still have your original, it could probably be rebuilt. I would try your local auto electric shop or maybe even a vacuum repair shop.

Unfortunately, I don't have an original. I'm also looking for an original. I've seen some on Ebay, but they are quite pricey and have a different Delco part number. The number I believe that is correct is 5044290

Do you have a copy of the Judging sheets for your car? If not you might want to get them and see if the motor is even judged. I looked at my sheets and I didn't see where the motor is judged but I could be mistaken. I realize everyone wants an original part when restoring their car but if it's not judged or can't be seen get a repo for now and get on with driving the car.

Yes, I have the judging sheets and the TIM & JG. The Heater motor and plenum are covered in item 10 of the Interior section. It only relates to color, paint finish, etc. So doesn't have any workd about an original versus reproduction as some other sections do. However, I do know that very knowledgeable judges do look for original parts that are not necessarily called out in the TIM & JG or Score Sheets. I worked as an OJ in Kimmimmee and one of the mechanical judges very easily pointed out reproduction Oil Filler Caps on 59/60s. The stamps/dies that were used back then had a flaw in one of the "O"s in the word OIL and he looked for that flaw even though it is not pointed out in the judging guide.

So, yes you may be right, but I would feel safer if someone knows for sure that the reproduction ones with the single brown wire will pass muster for judging.

          Thanks,
          Don

In that case I would contact the team leader for your car. They are listed on the inside cover of the Resorer. I'm sure he would beable to tell you.

              Don,

I have one you can buy..I bought it from Pro Team. I was told it was an NOS blower motor I bought on Ebay. But I did not need it, i just had a blown fuse. I will open the box this week and take some photos of it if you need it. I have no use for it. I really dont need the money, but I am always looking to trade stuff.

Al, I am definitely interested depending on what you want for it. I sent you a separate email with my email address.

                Thanks,

Once you know what it is and what you want for it, please PM or Email me. We probably should not use this forum for transaction.
