mid year tie rod ends

I read a post on another forum that had no answer and it spiked my interest. what do original tie rod ends look like? will the ones on the market pass judging? I looked at mine and 3 of them have a "s'' next to the zerk fitting and have no idea if they are original, I would think not after so many years. finally, who sells the rod ends that resemble the originals?
