Source for chicken wire over headlights

I have always liked the look of the screens over the headlights in the racing attire of the early solid axle race cars. I'm not talking about the screens on the 53-55 cars. Were these made in the racing shop or were they sourced from something readily available. Can they be found anywhere now?

    Willard -

Back in the day, they came from places like "MG Mitten", that catered to the stringback-gloves British sports car crowd; whoever caters to that group today might have them.

You don't see too many of those old MG's around anymore. The guy that can keep one of those things running is a guy that I greatly admire.

Here's a place to start. Google "headlight stone guards"

Kentrol, the Jeep parts company, has them and one of the British car parts companies has/had then IIRC (Victoria British, Moss, or someone else).

What year are you looking for? I have a unused set of 56-57 screens.

beware of dave's 56-7 screens as they were fabricated from old "beast" cans.mike

Check some of the VW parts houses.

I found some in the UK from a sports car supply house. This isn't going to cause every one to laugh at the British parts on my Corvette is it? I plan to tell them that they are from a Hummer.
