    67 fuel pumps on e-bay

Was wondering if either of the 2 fuel pumps listed on e-bay-- items # 1108107593998 and # 380300553375 were in fact nos (2nd 1 probably not with multi-languages printed on the box) and if they would pass judging. If so, what would be a fair bidding price? I'm unable to locate a source for rebuilding my original pump. TIA Al

    Al,

I sent my 1967 fuel pump to Paul Baker of GoatHill Classics in California. I think he's about the only person to do that kind of pump. However, I did send it s few weeks ago and when I call or email Paul on the status of the rebuild, I don't get any response.

This issue has been discussed here more than a few times and I guess it comes down to a points versus safety issue. I just wasn't comfortable with a rebuilt pump with a recrimped
base and opted for the latest AC-Delco replacement pump which is quite close to the orginal design minus the AC log on the top casting.

John, I had thought about that too. The last thing anyone would want is to spray fuel up on a hot exhaust system. I wasn't sure how close the 40503 matched up to a 40433 pump for use on the 327-300 engine and for close scruitney by the judges.

I think that if you will do a search of this forum on either Goat Hill or Paul Baker you will see this is a pattern

So, what I'm currently thing then is to get a new pump which closely matches the original for safety and not worry about the points hit. Open to suggestions.

                Al -

Paragon has one (their #11505) that's a dead-on match to the original 40433, including the cast AC logo, stamped part number, correct inlet and outlet fittings, etc.; I have one as a spare in case my AC-Delco replacement pump goes south.

Thanks greatly John, I'll see if I can't place an order with them today.

The Paragon pump is $155 the AC-Delco 40503 is about $27 or so...

Sad thing is the AC is an Airtex with no AC logo

The 40503 replacement pump has a different inlet fitting than the original style 40433 that's used in 1967. There is a fitting that goes to the inlet threads of the 40433 pump so the rubber hose from the fuel line fits better. The 40503 inlet is a hose connection and the rubber hose goes forward then bent to connect to the inlet.

The airtex picture of this 40433 pump looks correct in the inlet area so it matches the original better than the 40503. Of course the AC embossment is not there. The Paragon pump looks like there are vent holes on the side that are not there on the original so what's the trade off, a $155. pump or a 30 dollar airtex that matches perfectly except no AC cast in the top.

Pump should have vent holes. That is to allow, among other things, fuel to escape should the diaphragm start leaking.
