I have a set of original (?) 1971 valve covers with the drippers. They only have the one tab spot welded in the middle of the valve cover that holds the plastic clip for the wires.
What my question is: On the inside, it looks a lot like there was enough heat to braze the thing on. I expected to see typical spot welds. But instead, I see the whole area the size of the tab was heated up.
Is this typical, or did I run across a set of covers that someone has altered.
Again, on the inside, the heated area is a square the shape of the tab on the other side.
My 72 covers just have the typical small spot welds. But as I looked at more and more 71 covers, I saw that quite a few of them looked like my 71 covers, but not all. Either there are a lot of altered 71 covers out there, or quite a few of them needed a little extra heat.
Is this typical?
