    1960 carburetor fuel line

What type of adapter (if any) is used on the carburetor end of a WCFB. The filter element brass fitting is 5/16 and the fuel line is 3/8. I am returning this to a correct configuration and do not see any adapter used on the carburetor. I am assuming the correct fuel line size is 3/8.

Phil, Is this what you are looking for? 1" socket fits it.

John, That is it, the ones I have (3 of them) are for 5/16 fuel line not 3/8 and have not been able to locate a 3/8 size. My fuel line was cut when the fuel pump was replaced (incorrect type) and the 3/8 fuel line was adapted down to 5/16 at the carburetor.

        Phil -

I think you'll find that those fuel lines are 5/16", not 3/8"; I've never seen 3/8" lines/fittings on the carb side of the fuel pump on a WCFB setup.

          John,
The 90 degree fitting at the fuel pump is 1/4 pipe with a 3/8 flare that I purchased from CC. Should it be 1/4 pipe 5/16 flare and 5/16 line to the carburetor.
          Thanks

              Re: 1960 carburetor fuel line

I guess the question is now what is the proper size fuel line for a 283/230 WCFB. The fuel line I have is 3/8 from the fuel pump but was cut and a "hosed" down to a 5/16 at the carburetor. From what I get from John is that the fuel line should be 5/16 and the 90 degree elbow I recieved from Corvette Central that is 3/8 is incorrect.
Clem I think the inlet is indeed 7/8-20 I looked the Holley PN 26-76 may work if that would be correct.

                What I have found out.
Corvette Centrals line is 3/8 and from what I was told 3/8 fittings on each end. The Holley PN 26-76 is a plug. I have not been able to find a fuel inlet fitting for a WCFB with a 3/8 inverted flare. Would someone with a single WCFB set up take a look and see what type of fitting is on the carburetor. It would be greatly appreciated.

                    Thank Tom,
I see my problem, it is what I suspected my is 5/16, so I know what to be on the look out for anyway. I have a correct 3059S for the car (late Build).
                    Thanks for the help

Philip, I have the correct fitting on a 3061S carburetor that I am getting ready to send to the scrap yard! I used the carb on my 1960 and know it fits the correct fuel line because I installed the correct carb and it matched the fuel line. I will send you a personal e-mail.

We have verified that 3/8 is incorrect. We will make the change to 5/16.

I have been doing some looking and it appears (to me) that 3/8 is the correct size. I have looked at pictures in Restoration handbook, Nolan Adams book and some engine views on the internet (I know) and they appear to have 3/8 line from the fuel pump to carburetor on single 4 barrel cars. I found an inlet fitting that will work with 3/8 inverted flare at the carburetor (WCFB), it is holley 26-26. Would someone take a look an measure the fuel line on what would be a factory correct installation. This would help me in knowing what line to actually use. At present I have enough line and fittings to do several cars and only own one.
                            Thanks for all the help.

I'd be surprised to find a 3/8" pump-to-carb line on a 283. '67 300hp and 350hp cars are 5/16", and my only other car with a 3/8" line is an all-original '69 Z/28 (800CFM dual-feed Holley); it has a 3/8" line from the pump to a brass T-block, and two 5/16" lines from the block to the fuel bowl inlets.
