    Visit to Indianapolis, Indiana

    Hi to the Indy members,

    I'm traveling from Connecticut to the speedway around the 3rd to the 5th of May. Are there any Corvette activities going on there that we could join in? Any other events of interest?

    I was also told that if there is a Corvette event on the track, we could go with that club.

    Any advice?

      Jerry, I don't live there anymore but definately go to the Speedway Museum and see the '57 Corvette SS that Zora donated. The Museum is inside the track.

          Hi Jerry,

          I am located in the Indy area and agree with Steve that one of the high points of a visit to Indy is the Track and Museum. If you are there on Thursday or Friday you will be able to take a bus tour on the track which is interesting. Saturday, May 5th, is the Mini Mrathon event which has the runners making a lap around the track so there is no vehicular activity on that day. Many years ago there were events that I participated in with the Circle City Corvette club that allowed us to go around the track at speed but I believe these have pretty much been discontinued for liability reasons. I am not a member of the club so maybe someone can jump in and provide further information on any club events. Saturday, May 19th, is the official opening of the track and you can purchase a ticket to the 500 breakfast which is open to the public and includes a parade lap around the track. This is well controlled and due to the large number of participants it is pretty much stop and go all the way around. You will want to log on to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway web site for updates on the schedule of events for the month of May. Not many of the events are posted yet but as we get closer to May the site will contain a lot of information. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions of I can be of any help.
