69 Carpet with or without jute

When ordering carpeting for a judged 69 vette, do i order with or without jute,
what underlayment do you recommend

Hi Paul,
Here are a couple of pictures of the padding from my 71. I believe the padding used on your 69 is similar
I don't think anyone is making anything very close to it these days.
Hopefully this will give you some idea of what to look for.
Any chance you can reuse your original pads?

This padding was hit and miss glued to the carpet.

This padding was loose from the carpet and had a dense (rubber ?) coating on the carpet side of the padding

FYI - 1971 Coupe #4504 also had it's foam corner blocks.

FYI - 1971 Coupe #6589 had only ONE foam corner block.
It grew another during restoration, to please my sense of symmetry!

But as a matter of judging; are the judges really going to be able to tell what kind of padding is under the carpet?

Yes, we judges can usually see some jute and padding at the cut for seat tracks and behind the seats.

Hi Floyd,
I've also seen signs of the jute pad at the top of the rear bulkhead carpet. I think whether you see it or not depends on how carefully the padding was placed relative to the carpet.
