'67 Stinger colors

In the course of my detective searching out the history and previous owners of my '67 L71 Rally Red coupe, I have discovered pictures that show the stinger was changed from white to black along the way. Since stinger color is not shown on any of my paperwork on the car (tank sticker, etc.) I am curious how it was chosen. Was it an item on the order sheet when it was ordered, or was it supposed to be coordinated with interior colors or other things and thus standard? Any insights appreciated. Luckily, this is not something the flight judges can judge .

I believe they were pre-determined based on any given interior/exterior combination. You can find that info in Nolan's vol. 2 book on pages 438/439

Thanks, I have that book. My exterior 974AA, and interior, standard black (STD), would indicate a black stripe from the book it appears, a white stripe would be for a black and white interior. Very interesting, now I will have to go back and check with some previous owners before the first repaint to see if it were originally black and switched to white at some point before the last repaint when it was changed to black.
