Heater Hose Fitting on Water Pump for 67 435

Any opinions on if it should or should not have 'notches' on the hex portion or be smooth? If it should have notches, how many should it have, one, two or three?

Mark, there were three of these that I know of, no notches, one notch & two notches and for each version one thousand opinions each.

Here is where I am at with this. This was Engine Plant installed, given that and engine plant made thousands of engines a day, it is possible that Flint had one supplier and Tonawanda another. So it would seem to be very improbable that in a given year you'd have all three styles on one engine version. On the survivor photos I have from Novi for example the 67 327 had no notches, maybe one on the 66 BB but the others would appear to my eyes as being massaged.

Hi Mark,

My May1967 built 435/427 does not have any notches. I am the second owner and have known the car since the early 1970's and believe the fitting to be original to the car.

The heater hose return fitting on the water pump was installed at St. Louis; only the bypass hose fittings were installed at the engine plants.
