I found a new piece of NOS? 3826953 door weatherstrip. I know it is a C-3 piece, but unsure of what it fits, coupe or convertible. Help. Trying to clean all the excess parts I have left over from the business and bring them to FL

Re: 3826953 Weatherstrip
Dick,
That sounds (numerically) like a part number for a 63/C2. I can look it up later.....
If it were a C3 part, the number would be more like 3923xxx... not 3823xxx.Last edited by Michael H.; January 24, 2012, 03:23 PM.- Top

Re: 3826953 Weatherstrip
Dick,Mike.....
I don't see that number in either of my 53-72 or 53-70 parts books. It does however show 3826950 as a 63-67 convertible right door weatherstrip. If that's it, the 1967 price was $3.85........
edit.... in section 10.694- Top

Re: 3826953 Weatherstrip
GM #3826953 was never a SERVICE-available part if it is a valid, released part number, at all. It would date from the 1963-64 period. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Thanks all y'all, the number is molded on the rubber. I am guessing that it would be a LH midyear door weatherstrip then.Dick Whittington- Top

Dick-----
3826953 is not the part number for a mid-year door weatherstrip, either coupe or convertible. However, it's possible it's a number used for some sort of component of the weatherstrip, as unlikely as that may seem.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 3826953 Weatherstrip
Dick,
GM 3826953 is described as a "left, garnish" for a 1964-1966 Corvette (SPT. CPE.). It's located in Group 12.075, "MOULDING - SCALP - GUTTER ASSY. - CAP - ESCUTCHEON - CLIP - SCREW, Roof Drip".
Price in October 1965 was $1.50. Catalogs through 1970 (April) continue to show it as a 1964-1966 part, so it was apparently not used in '67.- Top

Yes, I do find it now in the P&A Catalogs as you describe. However, I still do not find it as actually being available in the GM parts system from 1963 to the present. That's why I was previously unable to find it in the P&A Catalogs.
I realize this is VERY strange since the part does show in the P&A Catalogs and it's the type of part that should have been available in SERVICE. However, I've checked and cross-checked several informational sources rather extensively and I cannot find it as being actually available. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 3826953 Weatherstrip
The P&A specifies Corvette Sport Coupe ("SPT. CPE.") for GM 3826953, to the exclusion of convertibles. That could be a printing error, but if so, the error is then compounded by limiting the application to 1964-1966, when the convertible door main weatherstrip part number called out in the AIMs is the same for all midyears, 1963-1967 (GM 3826949, 3826950). It is located in Group 10.694, listed this way in the 1967 P&A:
63-67 CORVETTE (CONV.) . . . . . . . . . left, on door . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3826949 . . . . 1 . . . ($3.63)
63-67 CORVETTE (CONV.) . . . . . . . . . right, on door . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3826950 . . . . 1 . . . ($3.63)
For 1968 convertible it changes to GM 3945287, 3945288. The 1969 convertible door main weatherstrip is GM 3966569, 3966570.
Do you have a picture of this unicorn? It might be worth a thousand words- Top
