    63 seat bolts

Does anyone have a pic of the bolts that attach the front of the 63 seats to the floor? Of particular interest is the length and the point style of the bolts.

    Thanks,
    Mike

These are mine, I'm wondering if they should have a "four-sided-pyramid point", rather than than a conical one?

Thanks Alan. Couldn't find a description of 3795514 in any of the threads you recommended. If anyone had a drawing or pics of that screw/washer assembly, please post.

Yup, sorry Mike. Read through them carefully and they have a lot to say about 64 up bolts. So even my 64 which are similar to your picture are not the correct ones for 63 - that figures, you 63 guys have a hard car to restore.
Perhaps if nobody helps you can post the part number mentioning its 63 only. The board has some 63 experts - must be watching some other car stuff.

            Mike,

Here is what came out of my April car. I'm fairly sure these are the original fasteners since car had been sitting since early 70s and washers are correct 63 tooth design. 3795514 only appears to have been used at front seat mounts. Rear seat mounts had 3816170 longer bolts with pointed tip similar to many other locations on the car. When I removed the rear bolts I assumed they had been changed. However when you do a search of 64-66 seat fasteners in the archives you'll find discussions about two different lengths being used even thought the AIMs only call for one bolt. For example 66 AIM calls out 3847757 however some original cars have two lengths. Why were there two bolts lengths? My guess 3797491 plate and 3824594 seat bracket were installed before car was painted and before seats were installed. 3816710 was fastener available at that assembly station. Once car was painted and seats installed, only the front mounts required fasteners and 3795514 was used. One interesting point, one of the rear 3816710 fasteners had a shorter 3795514 in its place.

            Thanks

            Jeff

I have the same style in my April 20th car. The bottom of the captured washers have the points to lock them in place.

SEATBOLTS.jpgThanks, guys. Is 3795514 the shorter part in your pic? If so, did it have a flat end (as shown at right) or a point? If pointed, is a "pinch point" (shown at left in the pic), or a smooth cone?

3-4 different possibilities. 3/4" pinch point serrated washer, same with conical washer, 7/8" pinch point serrated washer, same conical washer, 3/4" flat tip serrated washer, same conical washer. 63-64 is very common for serrated washers. check your seat track rails for signs of indents from the serrated washer. That will be a good clue : )

                    Re: 63 seat bolts

Hi Rich, the bolts I removed didn't have serrated washers, but the surface of the seat track does have indentations from the teeth of such washers. Apparently, at some point the car had other bolts there, probably when it was new. I have some original 3/4" pinch-point parts (see the photo in my last post) that I can use on the seats, so I think we're all set.

                    Thanks all,
                    Mike
