Anybody broken the code yet ? The '65 TIM&JG gives two examples of stamped serial numbers: 92NC1365 and 27NC7989.
I have two of these early style A6 compressors (but don't know provenance); both have the 8-hole clutch hub; the swaged [not crimped] front case barrel; the '302' cast rear heads; one with I_11_4 and the other J_zz_3 (zz= can't remember the day]. The Sept '64 cast unit has serial 65DC1312 (although the frigidaire label is not the same format as Corvette, might be another GM line); the Oct '63 cast compressor has 85NCx885 [x=can't make it out]. The latter has the same type label as Corvette, and clutch coil connection is even clocked outboard passenger side. Both have the slotted "whistle" relief valve with 440# inscribed.
