    matching dates engine & vehicle

I own '63 VIN #1841, builtdate 18/19th October 1962, currently it has a '64 Flint 327/300 engine under the hood. I have the, ultra rare, upportunity to buy a
327 #...870 engine with datecode J82 (8th of October 1962), no VIN stamp in the frontpad, not to far from where I live in The Netherlands (!!!).
The Noland Adams book shows VIN #1817 with engine I222 and VIN #2127 with engine J102, so looking at the sequence of numbers it should be possible.
My question is wether this is a good option due to the only 10 days difference between blockcastdate and vehicle build date.
(the engine doesn't come cheap but it is only very nearby). Is this my lucky day ?
    Thanks Ruud

Ruud, I am not a expert but sounds like a perfect match.what is the suffix code stamp.or is j82 the suffix stamp.maybe a replacement engine because of the no VIN?

      Ruud:

I would not use the term rare over here, unless you can see broach marks on the pad, AND you know the head mounting surfaces do not need to be machined. The 327 870 blocks were used in lots of 62-63 Chevys. It's true, most of the ones available have something on the pad. They could become "unstamped" with a machined surface. That might be necessary to flatten the deck anyway.
