Re: Rear wheel bearings??
Looks like axle stubs to me. Mine did the same thing.

Have somebody watch the differential yokes for movement while you rock the wheels.- Top

Re: Rear wheel bearings??
I have a lot of play when moving wheel at top and bottom. About half as much side to side. I was by myself so hard to watch back side but I tried to move tire out at bottom with one hand while feeling with the other hand but couldn't feel anything moving on back.- Top

Re: Rear wheel bearings??
Could be side yoke wear. See if you can get a helper and check it again to see how much play you have in the axles. If the bearings are original the grease is mostly likely dried out but if the spindle bearings have that much play they would be making a lot of noise. If you want to go through it, remove the 1/2 shaft and the caliper, then you only have the spindle bearings in play. Grab the rotor if still riveted on and see how my in/out play you have. you can move the spindle with a little a 003". See how it feels rotating it.
Check out my thread on arms on Digital corvettes as well, it has a lot of pictures that will help you.
Good luck.- Top
