Hello everyone,
I had a few questions on the ORIGINAL 2-1/2" C2 Exhaust Heat Shields and hoping someone could help. I posted a week ago looking to get some clarity but so far still stuck in the mud. As I research exhaust heatshields for 65's I find myself confused.
In a 2006 post on the subject
it mentions 3851673 & 3864180 are listed as 65-67s. and 3851673-74 are listed as 1964's.
My confusion is in the 65 aim both of these pairs #s are listed on various sheets.
3851673-74 on L76/L84 and
3851673/3864180 on L75
So was there a change from 674 to 4180 sometime in 1965 and if so approx when?
Is the configuration/shape/size different between these two part numbers? I have seen 674 with flat end and 4180 with curved ends (both right side shields) Is this correct observation?
Hope you can clarify my confusion or if nothing else someone could forward a pic to confirm how 65 BB shields are configured.
Much appreciation
Rick
Couple other clarifying points too
1) Were the service pieces just black paint over the bare steel? In service were the straps black or bare steel.
2) Are there any other details that differ between service and production shields?
