53-55 Driveline stencil - true or false?

I notice that the Corvette Central catalog says not to order a driveline part number stencil for 53-55 because they were not used in those years. Is that true or false?

If you mean driveshaft, I agree with CC.

Yes I meant driveshaft.

On page 58 of Joe Tripoli's Corvette Chassis Restoration Guide he indicates that there was a stenciled number 3707878 in yellow on 53-55 6 cyl cars and 3712377 on 55 V8's. He does not show any 53-55 example photos though. I have also read here on the Discussion Board that the yellow stencil was applied before the chassis black out and it was painted over to some degree. So in some cases the number could not be seen or seen well, depending on how much paint the black out sprayer felt like putting on and probably which direction the stenciled area of the driveshaft was oriented when the spraying took place.

It had never been installed
The part number was on it clear as day
I have photos
I ordered a stencil from Quanta and it was dead on from my measurements

Was the part bare steel, prior to black out or did it come from the supplier painted black? I would like to see the photo.
