The original tinted windshield for my 67 convertible was replaced with an aftermarket windshield in the late 70's after the original was damaged. I am now restoring the car and purchased a reproduction dated and tinted windshield from Paragon which was supplied by AutoCity. The windshield arrived a few weeks ago and upon initial inspection looked to be in good order with the propermarkings. The LOF logo in the lower passenger corner looks correct. The windshield was installed yesterday and fit well. For the first time I noticed an additional etched marking about midway up the passenger side of the windshield near the outer edge. Read from inside there is an A followed by an arrow pointing down followed by AS. Since the windshield I replaced was not the original I could not use it for comparison. I do however have access to a 67 with a nontinted original windshield and I did not find the same additional etched marking on it.
Scott Smith was kind enough to direct me to the Camero Group Research link; http://www.camaros.org/glass.shtml for additional information. It displays a picture of a 67 camaro windshield with the same additional marking in the same location.
So, my question is, would the AS-1 etched marking appearing midway up the passenger side of the reproduction windshield have been on the original tinted windshield?
Hopefully someone can help me on this.
Thanks
Neal
