    C2 Windshield etched markings question

The original tinted windshield for my 67 convertible was replaced with an aftermarket windshield in the late 70's after the original was damaged. I am now restoring the car and purchased a reproduction dated and tinted windshield from Paragon which was supplied by AutoCity. The windshield arrived a few weeks ago and upon initial inspection looked to be in good order with the propermarkings. The LOF logo in the lower passenger corner looks correct. The windshield was installed yesterday and fit well. For the first time I noticed an additional etched marking about midway up the passenger side of the windshield near the outer edge. Read from inside there is an A followed by an arrow pointing down followed by AS. Since the windshield I replaced was not the original I could not use it for comparison. I do however have access to a 67 with a nontinted original windshield and I did not find the same additional etched marking on it.
Scott Smith was kind enough to direct me to the Camero Group Research link; http://www.camaros.org/glass.shtml for additional information. It displays a picture of a 67 camaro windshield with the same additional marking in the same location.
So, my question is, would the AS-1 etched marking appearing midway up the passenger side of the reproduction windshield have been on the original tinted windshield?
Hopefully someone can help me on this.
    Thanks
    Neal

I made a small error in my post. In the 5th line of the first paragraph where i wrote "Read from the inside where there is an A followed by an arrow pointing down follwed by AS." I meant the AS to read A1.

    Sorry for the error.

I believe the AS-1 marking is a Fed requirement that says there cannot be any tinting below that point/line across the windshield.

        Neil,

My 67 hasd it's original windshield and I am almost certain it is like your replacement glass, I will check later and let you know.

          Steve,
Thank you for the explanaton of what the AS-1 means. I am hoping that Tim will be able to verify that his original tinted windshield has this marking on it.

From the original tinted windshield on my '63. When I got my repro from OEM they were not able to include this mark.

                Ken and Bill,
Thanks for the photos. That is the same mark, and in the same place, that came on my repop windshield. I was concerned that it was something new that had been added. Thankfully it looks faithful to the original.
I am grateful that there is such a resource as the NCRS with so many folks who are willing to share freely of their time and knowledge.

Neal - The etched marking on the original Shaded Soft-Ray windshield on S/N 1476 with UA code matches Bill's. Pete

Ditto on my windshield, it matches Bill's exactly.

                        Neal,

I found a photo in Dobbins' 1963-67 Fact Book (9th Edition, p. 12) showing the same marking as reported in the replies above.
