    Fuel pump tag

This tag was under one of the screws on my 65 L79 fuel pump. The JG does not mention any tags so I assume it does not belong on my fuel pump. It reads:
    AC 393
    40083

What do you think this tag is off of?

The fuel pump has no markings, i.e AC on top or 40083 on flange.

Will the pump be judged as a replacement or will it get a full deduction?

Should I put the tag back on?

    Thanks for your input.

    Bill -

It appears to be a generic replacement (possibly Airtex, etc.); the tag identifies the application and AC/GM numbers it's intended to replace. I expect it'll be judged as a replacement. I'd leave the tag off - it just attracts attention.
