Re: 57 fastners
Jerry, Sometimes you can find the original locations by looking underneath in the wheel wells. Also you should have five of the same screws along the front edge of the hood opening. This is the same area/location of the rubber hood bumpers.

Re: 57 fastners
Scott, just curious. Are we sure ALL cars had the front edge screws? My Nov '56 did not have them, no evidence of ever having them. I concluded they were like the top surround to inner skirt screws which varied from two to four as I understand it, kind of optional if needed.- Top

Re: 57 fastners
Jerry,
The #10 refers to the thread diameter which will be .190 (3/16) inch. Screws under 1/4 inch diameter are "number" sizes, usually 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 or 14. The -16 is the threads per inch, not the same as a standard machine screw. A standard #10 will have a pan head dia of just under 3/8". Length is 1/2 inch.
Having said all that, the more I think about it the less I'm sure those are #10s. They may be #8s. Haven't found them in the AIM and my car is not accessible to check right now. Maybe Scott can confirm.
If #8, the thread would be .164 (just over 5/32) dia and head dia would be about 5/16. Length might be 3/8 or 1/2.- Top
