What would be the easiest way to loosen my instrumemt panel that would give me enough room to unscrew my speedometer cable? 1966 VETTE w a/c. Dutch

It's easier to remove the L.H. A/C duct and do the cable from below than it is to pull the cluster back to get it from the top.- Top

Easier, but a two advil job to get it from below. Remove the LH A/C duct as John says.
Then lay on your back across the driver seat. Put a pillow on console and put the gear shift in fourth gear.
Then reach up with your right arm behind the cluster and feel for the speedometer cable nut and give it a twist CCW.
Reverse the procedure to put it back in.
You'll find that it is almost impossible to get both your head and arm, or both arms, behind the cluster without removing the drivers seat.
With the one arm method there is no seat removal and it is the quickest way. You will be a little stressed, so take two advils.Jerry Fuccillo
