Re: Breather IDs
The air cleaner with the dual snorkels look like the one used on a 70 Camaro Z28. What are the dimensions (diameter, length of snorkel, distance between snorkels)?
The air cleaner with the single snorket might be for 70 Camaro SS350 (L48) but it depends on the angular location of the snorkel. What is the measurement between the square hole and the snorkel? I have about 3 or 4 70 Camaro SS350 air cleaners and most of them have the white GM sticker with the GM part number. The 70 Camaro SS350 air cleaner does NOT have the large rubber seal around the perimeter as shown in your photo.
The 70 Chevrolet w/L48 air cleaner is similar but the angle of the snorkel is different and the filter is much thicker.

Re: Breather IDs
The dual snorkle is 14" with 9.875 between snorkles measured on the circumference. The snorkiles are 5" long and 4.25" X 1.75" on the end. I noticed the service sticker (duh) the code is DO and the part no is ?487677. It is similar to my 72
Vette but the valve cover tube exits the side as opposed to the bottom.
The single snorkle may be made up as it is cowl induction. The filter is 12". It also has a sticker black with gold print, code CM part no. 6484582. the snorkle is 12" long. I thought it may be 80-81 Camaro as they have cowl induction.- Top

Keith,
The "DO" code goes with GM # 6487577. The 6487577 air cleaner assembly was used on 1973-1974 Corvettes. Try using a magnifying glass.
The 6484582 air cleaner assembly is original equipment on 1969 Chevrolet & Chevelle models w/4BC & A.T. (L48) as per my 1969 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (Oct. 1968 and May 1969) . The 6484581 air cleaner was used on 1969 Chevrolets & Chevelles w/4BC & M.T. (L48) as per my 1969 Chevelle AIM and 1969 catalogs. Is the measurement between the square hole and the snorkel about 2 1/4" or about 3 7/8"?
GM # 6484582 was discontinued on June 1971 and replaced with GM # 6485240 which was used on 1970 Chevrolets & Chevelle models with 4BC, A.T. & M.T. (L48). I have a 6485240 air cleaner ("CJ") in my "collection".
The stickers were on factory installed air cleaners. My 1970 Camaro SS350 air cleaner (15 1/4" O.D.) has a sticker with "6485242" and "CK" and uses the A329C filter (12" by 2 15/32"). The distance between the square hole and the snorkel measures about 3 7/8". I assume the reason why the angular location of the snorkel is different on the Camaro is for clearance purposes.

Re: Breather IDs
Dave, it is a 5. And the snorkel distance is 3.875 on the other. Look like someone changed the lid and put a seal on it to make a cowl induction breather. Looks factory. It was on a 69 Camaro I bought 20 years ago. One of the first things I did was put a correct one on it. Thanks- Top

Re: Breather IDs
Keith,
The rubber seal on your air cleaner looks like GM # 3955231 as shown in my 1969 Camaro AIM, UPC ZL2, sheet A3 (Special Ducted Air Hood Air Cleaner).
There were 2 different 15 1/4" lids used in 1969, 1970, and other years. The "flat" lids was used on the Camaro models (for clearance purposes) and "high" lids were used on the Chevrolets & Chevelles.
Enclosed are photos of one of my 6485242 "CK" air cleaner air cleaner assemblies. The base is similar to your 6484582 "CM" base except that the 6485242 base has an extra round 1 1/4" diameter "indentation" in the vicinity of the square hole and the snorkel measures about 10 1/2" long. The distance from the square hole to the snorkel is 3 7/8" just like your air cleaner.
