1954 Brake Pedal Pad width

Hello -
I wanted to verify if I have the correct service brake lever/pad on my 1954. The metal brake pedal arm has a plate for the rubber pad that is approximately 3-1/8" wide but the replacment rubber pedal pad I received from one of the parts supplyer is approximately 5" wide so I am wondering if I have the incorrect part or was the brake pedal changed on my care sometime down the line.....any thoughts?

The replacement pad sounds right to me. Here is the original brake pedal pad on my unrestored '54, #3300:

Thanks for posting the photo...at some point in the past the car did have a 3 speed installed so more than likely the pedal arm is a retro-fit at that time from a 3 speed car or the pedal for some reason was shortened. question answered.

Same with 53 #125 that I worked on and my 55 as well. Both were 3 speed conversion cars. Then someone takes the clutch pedal out and leaves the smaller brake pedal behind.
