How do I get the horn cap off of my steering wheel assembly? I hit the horn too hard, and now the cap shakes and the horn goes off when I hit bumps, the brakes, fast acceleration, you get the idea! I don't see how it is fastened to the assembly, and I'm afraid to just start prying at it to see if it 'unsnaps' off, as I don't want to do anymore damage. Anybody done this before? Please tell me how.

It simply pulls off. It "snaps into" the horn contact. However, you may have distorted something when you "hit the horn too hard" making it more difficult to remove. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: '79 Horn cap
Joe---
Thanks again, I'll yank it off then on Saturday when I've got time to get into it to see which thing inside isn't right. Right now the cap just shimmies and bounces around in place setting off the horn with just enough movement. I've got a paper napkin wedged in there right now between the cap and the steering wheel to keep it from moving but it's got to get fixed. Thanks again Joe!- Top
