'73 Any '73 owners that can read their frame date?
Was wondering if any '73 owners out there can read their frame date stencil? And if so how long did it predate your cars build date? Thanks!!!

Sorry Rich, my stencil is long gone like my tank sticker. When I purchased the car I was the seventh or eighth owner so many people have enjoyed my car. The car has 113,XXX miles and was restored back in 1991 with 90,000 miles.
Asked the fifth owner over the phone who restored the car about tank sticker as car appears to have new gas tank and he said "never saw it"!Peter Gregory # 4157

Rich,
I've owned my 73 since it was new but any markings on the frame have all been long gone. I have my build date right from GM so I took a guess for the frame date and stenciled that on.
Lyle Chamberland might have a good idea what the date should be based on the car build date since he specializes in 73's.Steve L

Where is the stamp located. My 73 was undercoated by the dealer. If I know where it is, I will try and scrape off the undercoating to read it.1973 coupe

It's on the frame, passenger side, right behind the front wheel. Some of it will be blocked by the inner fender skirt so it may be hard to clean off and read the date. It's only paint so cleaning the undercoating by scraping or solvent my damage it.Steve L

If you were willing to poke around and find it, the date v.s. build date of the car would be of interest to myself and many others with 73's since for most of us, the frame dates are long gone.Steve L

I will try and look this weekend. I need to get back into my winter project of replacing the front bumper. Original one was all cracked up.1973 coupe
