    c2 Hardtop Rebuild ?

I am disassembling my removable hardtop for rebuild and when I pulled off the Front and side exterior stainless, I noticed that there was tape at the front leading edge of the hardtop under the stainless, but covering the Dum Dum sealer.

Feels like Masking tape and looks to be original to the Hardtop. The hardtop does not look like it has been taken apart since it left the factory.

Was this part of the building process used by the factory and what is the purpose does the tape have being over the Dum Dum? (This is not seen on the side stainless areas, only front).

    Is it Masking Tape?

Has anyone seen this before or do you think that it was placed there by some previous owner?

    Thanks

      Thanks Jeff,

The internet redirected me to michiganncrs.org and I looked through the site and could not find anything.

Is that the site you were thinking of, or is there another one?

Where on the site did you see the info.?

      Thanks for taking the time

Thanks Jeff, I found the video on Hardtop assembly.

I guess the masking tape was used to hold the front clips in place on the front stainless moulding and just released over time and became stuck to the Dum Dum.

I noticed in the Video that they did not use any Dum Dum under the Stainless, nor did they use any weatherstrip adhesive under the weatherstrip.

On my top there was a dark yellow weatherstrip adhesive used under all weatherstrip pieces quite liberally.

          Which is correct?

Also, do others that have rebuilt these tops, not use any Dum Dum under their Stainless moldings?

Thank you for the assistance and have a Great Weekend.
