    QJet Bolt Torque Spec

I have searched Chassis Svc Manual and any other docs I can think of, plus this forum, but cannot find this info - what is the proper torque specification for the bolts that affix a Quadrajet to the intake manifold...I assume it will be an inch-pounds spec?

    Many thanks in advance!

    Wade,

I see by your profile you own a 1971 & I assUme that is the car that gives rise to your question. I will look in the 1971 AIM when I get home tonight, unless someone with access to that AIM posts sooner.

Thanks Terry. Actually it's not the '71 but I'm working on a '73 L82...but it should be similar(?) i.e. similar carb, iron manifold.

And actually I appreciate that you made me look - I have a '71 AIM that I have used extensively but was mistakenly thinking that the carb was installed in Flint or Tonawanda and would thus not be shown...but it is. On Page 6-C1 it shows torque and process order.

Again, I assume '73 L82 would be approx the same, but does anyone have that info (I don't have a '73 AIM) - Thanks!

        It's 120-168 pound/inches.

          Wade,
I do not have a 1973 AIM either. While looking at the 1971 AIM I was going to look to be sure the large and small motors have the same torque as I would expect. That would be an opportunity for me to learn something. Like you I would expect 1973 to be the same as 1971 and other years. Ideally someone reading will have a 1973 AIM and we will all learn something.

My 1973 AIM lists the same torque specs as Joe listed and addresses the "attaching bolt torque sequence". It also states that " Bolts must maintain a residual torque of 75 lbs in. after roll test." Not sure what this is. Can someone explain what this means?

I am pretty sure the "roll test" was rear wheels on rollers and the engine powering the rear wheels. One engine heat and cool cycle. I can't imagine they tested the torque on each unit after roll test. though.
