    First Snow Ride of 2012

The snow is falling and I thought it would be a good time to go get the mail and a cup of coffee.

The top works great, it keeps the snow off your head when driving .

Not use to having the top up..........

I am still working on the European Trip............

Practicing for driving in the Alps

    Jack

Jack, I'm impressed with your true desire to enjoy your car. So many owners won't even get theirs wet in a little rain. I look forward to the the day, a few years from now, when I get mine back together and get to drive it. Thanks for the pictures of the top replacement project. Looking forward to your Europe trip.

I don't know Jack, that doesn't look much like snow to a Mainer.

Is Cape Elizabeth really a part of Maine?

Love that GG and it looks so good against white.

If you are ever in this neck of the woods again I have a beige iron bridge I need to photograph your car driving over

            Hi Peter,

All season white wall van tires. (215 70 15) The only ones I could get with a white wall and ability to drive all year. Most of us who have owned these cars as 1st or 2nd owners , used them as everyday drivers. We had to get to work , mufflers hanging, push starting, leaks in rain. I thought nothing of putting snow tires on and off to the ski mountains.

After all, they were made in Michigan, it snows there and not all the cars went south.

I do understand why some don't drive their cars in winter, but being old (us is not an excuse).

Have a good winter and drive that car

            Jack

Hey! Did'nt I see those pictures before? I guess all the snow pictures look the same...cold!!!

If it was anyone but you I'd wonder if you were pulling a fast one, but I know that your car was out in the snow, often on a cold day with the top down.

                Happy New year, Jack.

                  Hi Jack,
Good for you! I drove my 69 everyday of the year here in CT for several years. It handled great in the snow. I treated that car like I do my S10 truck- drove it everywhere and it was perfect! Of course if you guys use a lot of salt up there like they do here now it won't be so good for the frame and driveline!

Jack - I just took our 67 out for a spin. Currently the roads are clear here in Northern New Mexico, but there's around a foot of snow on the ground from the 2 snow storms that came thru in mid-December and we're supposed to have more snow tonight and thru tomorrow. It's always a GR8 day when you can take your Corvette for a drive. One of the secrets of enjoying our Corvette all year around is to not put too much crap behind the car so you can get it out. Pete

                      Hi Pete

While I have you on the line. You helped me with my locks , maybe you can help me with my wipers. Sometime in the long ago past,(30 years ago) I lost (stolen) my passenger side wiper to a repair shop. They replaced it with a repro with the movable end. I really did not notice until last year when restoring car. ( I learned a lot in the last 2 years)

Do you have one for sale? I know my friends on the CF will say I gone NCRS , but I would like to have it correct for a possible trip to Europe with the car.

PM if you have one or can locate one for me.

Thanks and sorry I missed you on my way east on the 48 state trip.....I was a little hot after the Mojave desert and rt 95 north to gods country and back.

                      Jack

                        Jack,

Let me know when you plan to hit the Netherlands so we can include some windmill visits in your trip and drink some true Heineken while you are here!

Jack, thought of you on January 3rd when Bill and I took his '61 out for a ride on his birthday! First time he has ever been able to do that. Went to lunch then up to see my '62 at Scott's. He let me drive which he knows encourages me to keep on moving forward on mine. Nearly ready for red paint!

Good for you. Car body looks great. It is going to be fun to drive. Scott will do a great job, and tell you to drive it. He can take car of dings and scratches in a few years after you have had a heck of time. Glad Bill could get out so late in the season.

                            PS to others

I am so glad to hear and see so many cars out so late in the season, Not good for the ski areas, but for us......

As I say very often, " More years behind than in front "

When the roads are dry , drive that car..... your car with thank you...... You don't need to save it for anyone....but you and now...............water will clean them long before they rust.......you are rusting faster than the car.......

I tried it once but not for me. The salt just chews up the frames on these cars. This one came from CA. Frame is A++ OK.

Sorry I did not meet you when you passed through Ottawa last summer. Bit of a health problem at the time.
