    63 Blower motor capacitor

Could someone please post a pic of an original capacitor for the heater blower motor for a 63?

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Thanks,
It's been awhile since I restored my '63 but if remember correctly the early if not all '63's did not have a blower capacitor.

      Re: 63 Blower motor capacitor

Hi Michael, Looking at the 63 AIM, a capacitor is shown, but that area of the page was revised in March of 63. If the cap was added then, it would explain why i don't have one.

Anyone know for sure if a November, 62 car should have a blower motor capacitor?

      Thanks,
      Mike

        Re: 63 Blower motor capacitor

According to the AIM 1963's had a capacitor PN 3833336. And according to all my 63's with the earliest being in the 8000 SN's they had a capacitor assy. That's listed in the U69 radio section so without a radio the 63's would not have had a capacitor.

What's listed in the U-65 section of the AIM?

                Re: 63 Blower motor capacitor

After reviewing both U69 (the AIM sheet for AM/FM radio) and U65 (the AIM sheet for "radio"), it would appear that 63 cars with AM radio (all early cars) did not have a cap on the blower motor.

I'm beginning to believe that I should NOT have a cap on my blower motor, but, since I lost some points for that very thing, I'd still like some feedback from some owners of early original cars....

                Thanks,
                Mike

Edward, could you please post a pic of your blower motor without cap?

No capacitor was used with the AM radio equipped 63s.
Your Nov. 62 car would not have one.

Chuck sometime around VIN 11000 they went to AM/FM and had a capacitor. U65 cars did not have the capacitor on blower as I understand.

Hi Michael, When my Early March 63 with AM radio was being re-restored we went thru the same thing with the radio capacitor.
No such animal as mentioned above numerous times. I had a repro(for AM/FM) but my son finally sold it at the fleas for a buck or two. JD

I'm not sure how any judge could keep all the 63 changes straight. I'm surprised my April car even looks like my November one....

The new JG should be sub-titled: "63-64 and (just for laughs) 62-built 63's".

                            ..... maybe I'll get a '67 and relax

I have a late '63 #18658 with AM only radio (U65) which didn't have the capacitor... TRIM 898E (my theory is the E designated the AM radio but I can't prove that for a fact)...
