69 427 fuel pump part # Which is it?

Judging manual say my 69 427-435HP car should have part #6440659 (only the last 5 digits are on the pump). I went to order one from a big corvette supplier and he says judging manual is wrong. I need part # 6440482. He says that # is on all 68 and 69 427 fuel pumps. Judging manual shows it for 69 L88 only. Which is it? Thanks, Jeff

I have at least two references that indicate all Corvette solid lifter '69 427 applications used the 40482 pump. Includes 435hp and L-88, reference from Hollanders and Mitchell applications manual. The AIM references a chart that I do not have in my copy.

I would expect there to be a difference between the fuel pump for the Holley(s) and the Rochester -- so 427-390hp would be different than 427-435hp. Bill confirms Holleys are the same (427-430hp & 427-435hp), so 427-390 will be differnt number.

I had a similar question a few years ago on fuel pumps. Take a look at this link: https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...hlight=6440659

My 1969 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (Oct. 1968) lists GM # 6417338 (type 40659) as the fuel pump for the Corvette (4BC w/H/Per 427) and GM # 6416741 (type 40482) for 69 Corvette w/H.D. 427 & 69 Corvette w/3/2BC. My 1969 Corvette Parts Catalog (Oct. 1969) lists the same.

Jeff, here's a photo of mine which I believe is original to the car. 004.jpg

I don't know about the fuel pump, but that bead of red sealant is not original to your Corvette.

I would say your fuel pump stamped "AG40482" was made January 1967. The 40482 fuel pump (GM # 6416741) is also listed in my 1967 Chevrolet Parts Catalogs (April & July 1967) for the 67 Corvette w/427. I did some research on date coding AC fuel pumps, see link below.

                    Jeff,

My Chevrolet P & A 30 parts catalog dated May of 1969 references the following applications for the #6416741 (40482) AC fuel pump:
                    1967 Corvette - 427
                    1968 - 69 Corvette with H. D. 427
                    1968 - 69 Corvette with 3 / 2BC - 427
