    Auto transmission cooler

    All,

    I just replaced the auto transmission radiator cooler on my 66 coupe (327/300hp). The new one is aluminum and unpainted. The old one is black and I presume original. For judging purposes only and before I add tranny fluid, should I paint the aluminum cooler black or leave as is? Any help would be appreciated.

      I would definitely paint it black if for no other reason that corrosion protection. Most any black engine paint will do but I actually favor the special radiator paint sold by Eastwood.

          Dan the one on my Feb 67 car was painted black from the factory. It was a lady owned 1owner car. I would think the 66 would be the same. FWIW Al

              I believe that ALL original transmission coolers were painted black, just like all original Corvette radiators of the 63-82 period.
